Kahlur Fort, which is more commonly known as Kot- Kahlur is almost 3600 feet above the sea level. This majestic structure is situated in the district of Bilaspur. During the British era, Bilaspur was known as Kahlur, the princely state. The remainings of the fort are famous among visitors and attract them to visit Naina Devi Dhar or Hill, which is quite near to the Ganguwal Hydroelectric plant. The architecture of Kahlur Fort
The fort is 30 meters tall and 30 meters wide. It is fully made of stone. The fort is two-storied and each is 15 meters tall with 2 meters thick wall. The first floor is made of numerous pillars that support the ceiling. The second floor has 12 meters tall windows used by garrisons to keep an eye outside and defend any attack if needed. These windows are now either entirely shut with cement or are guarded with iron mesh for security purposes. There is also a temple situated in this fort that worships the Goddess Naina. The idol of the goddess is magnificently carved in stone and can be seen even today.
